Three Bean Salad?

June 5, 2022

With graduation parties in full swing, a bean salad is easy and delicious to serve. I tweak the original recipe. I might add red pepper or other fresh veggies that can be marinated. The picture above shows, black beans, kidney beans, great northern beans, green beans. red onion, green pepper, and celery.

Because of the salt content in the beans, I drain and rinse them.

I’ve used my Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook recipe for years and have included it for you. I didn’t have wax beans available. Substitutes are easy, and I always double or triple the recipe.

ENJOY!

A Graduation Gift

May 20, 2022

Many students have already graduated. My grandson graduates from high school next week. I thought I’d share a book I’m including with his gift.

The Legend of the Three Trees is a board book I’ve had for many years. This one was published in 2001. I’m sure I read it to my grandchildren, nieces, and nephews when they were young. The book is also published in picture book form, but I’ve chosen the board book. It can be read in a short period of time. Aren’t young adults busy pecking away on their phones?

Yes, it’s an unusual gift, but a gift that illustrates how our dreams are often much smaller than the dreams God has for us.

I hope when my grandson has his own family, he’ll read The Legend of the Three Trees to his little ones. I have no doubt they’ll fall in love with it–just like I did.

Congratulations to all the 2022 graduates!

May God bless you.

Mother’s Day Candy Boxes

April 30, 2022

Two by two boxes decorated with stickers, cut-outs, and filled with candy make lovely Mother’s Day gifts. These are great for shut-ins, neighbors, assisted living residents, and dozens more. You might have your own decorating idea.

I filled mine with peanut butter cups, mints, and Lindt Chocolates.

Below is a light and easy Lemon Cake recipe for a Mother’s Day banquet, potluck, or take-along dish.

1 box lemon cake mix

Instant lemon pudding

Cool whip

Bake cake as directed and mix pudding as suggested.  Spread pudding over top when cooled and add cool whip.

Shave lemon rind over cool whip.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Easter Chicks

April 6, 2022

Fork painting, feathers, and wiggle eyes make a fun Easter project for children. I found this cute chick craft on Pinterest.

I printed a free egg template on cardstock and made a circle in the center so children can follow a pattern. Just dip the underside of a fork into craft paint. Make sure the paint is dry before adding the wiggle eyes, beak, and feathers.

I couldn’t post this without adding a cookie.

Happy Easter!
