Mother’s Day Candy Jars

April 29, 2023

Are you looking for an easy Mother’s Day gift to share with others? My friend, Becky, came up with a great idea on how to recycle glass yogurt containers as candy jars. After seeing her creation, I wanted to do something similar. Since I have an abundance of canning jars, I used those along with sugar and salt and pepper shakers.

Cardstock, ribbon, double-sided tape, craft punches, jars, and candy are all you need. I chose butter mints.

We’re making these in Sunday school for the students to share on Mother’s Day. They’re also great for grandmothers, aunts, cousins, neighbors, shut-ins, and maybe someone who lives alone. What a nice surprise!

Supplies are pictured below. Have fun!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Proverbs 31:26 (NIV)

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

Easter Bunny Bags

April 7, 2023

I’m always searching Pinterest for easy craft ideas and found this bunny bag which is that and more.

It’s a cinch to make and inexpensive to pack. If you need a ‘bunny’ treat or a last-minute gift, please try it. And it’s perfect for shut-ins, neighbors, widows/widowers–a wonderful way to share the Easter Story. You can write John 3:16 on the bottom of the bag or type it on a sticky tag and adhere.

John 3:16

For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Supplies needed:

Cotton balls or pom-poms work.

After I took the daffodil picture, I discovered a cross in the left-hand corner. Can you see it?

Have a blessed Easter.

Utensil Containers

March 15, 2023

Over the years, I have purchased vases from garage sales for flower arrangements. Since I have more than I need, I thought of a way the vases could be put to use. I recently purchased kitchen gadgets and utensils as a gift. I filled the vase with the items. What a cute Mother’s Day, wedding shower, or new home/apartment gift. I believe several of my vases are vintage, so gifts become even more meaningful.

This is a great way to clear out cupboards and bless someone with a unique gift. And should the recipient wish to place the utensils in a drawer, the vase remains to display flowers.

A Valentine Blessing

February 6, 2023

Let all that you do be done with love.

1 Corinthians 16:14

Early last week, my area received several inches of snow. I donned my winter gear and shoveled my driveway. The next day, I cleared around my neighbor’s mailbox and was in the process of doing mine when I saw a young woman flailing her arms and pointing at me. She had pulled into the gas station on the corner and parked her car. At first, I thought she was looking for a residence, but she proceeded toward me.

Dressed in office work attire and suede boots, she hurried across the highway.

“Let me shovel for you,” she said.

Surprised, I replied, “You’re in dress clothes and this kind of work keeps me alive.”

“The snow is heavy. I shoveled around my mailbox yesterday,” she persisted.

I wrapped my arms around her, declined again, and thanked her for her kindness. “I’m a writer, ” I laughed. “This is definitely an earth angel story.”

She smiled and walked back to her car.

Let’s remember acts of kindness on Valentine’s Day. Driving an elderly person to the grocery store, getting their mail, delivering a hot meal or warm cookies to a shut-in is a real treat. Of course, the “I’m buying your meal” to the car behind you in a fast-food lane is always welcomed. An afternoon break for an overwhelmed mother with young children is a perfect gift. And who doesn’t like candy? I can guarantee whatever you do in love will be blessed.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
