No Mess Christmas Craft

November 21, 2025

I have an easy after-Thanksgiving Day Christmas craft for kids. It’s simple with no mess.

While searching online for ornament crafts for the preschool classroom at my church, I found a free template for a cute upside-down candy cane project. I cut out the candy canes from white cardstock, turned them upside down and colored them. Make sure you end with red at the bottom. Since I already have a star punch, I punched out gold stars and added J is for Jesus. I glued the star to the upside-down candy cane and laminated each one before adding the string. If you don’t have a laminating machine, use heavier white cardstock. Note: An adult must do the laminating.

We will soon have a Christmas tree in the preschool classroom at my church and each week until Christmas, I’ll provide an easy ornament for the children to make. For more ideas, check my website often.

Supplies needed:

  • candy cane template
  • glue (I adhered the string with hot glue, but you can use regular glue)
  • white cardstock
  • string
  • red washable markers
  • star punch (optional)
  • laminating machine (optional)

This project would be fun to make during the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

No Bake Butterscotch Cornflake Cookies

September 2, 2025

If you’re looking for an autumn-themed quick and easy cookie recipe, this is it. And they are delicious! A friend shared her recipe with me. They’re perfect for after school treats, tailgate parties, potlucks or yourself. I’ve made them several times due to requests. They’re even the color of autumn.

No Bake Butterscotch Cornflake Cookies

4 cups cornflakes

1 (11 oz.) bag butterscotch chips

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  • Put cornflakes in a large bowl. Set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt chips and peanut butter.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in vanilla.
  • Pour melted mixture over the cornflakes.
  • Toss to coat.

Drop by tablespoon onto parchment paper.

Chill till firm.

Tip: You can melt the chips and peanut butter in the microwave at 30 second intervals until smooth. You can also use frosted flakes to make them a bit sweeter.

Enjoy.

Happy Autumn!

Refreshing Lemon Cake

July 16, 2025

With summer heat soaring in many areas, lemons are a refreshing pick-me-up. So is a light and cool lemon pudding punch bowl cake. And it’s easy to make.

All you need is a lemon cake mix, instant lemon pudding and Cool Whip.

  • Bake one lemon cake mix in a 9×13 pan as directed. Cool.
  • 3 boxes 3.4 oz. instant lemon pudding/pie filling. Prepare as directed.
  • 2 eight-ounce containers of Cool Whip or one large.

Spoon some pudding mixture in the bottom of a glass bowl or punch bowl. Layer with cut up cake pieces, pudding and Cool Whip. Repeat until all the ingredients are layered. Always top with Cool Whip and refrigerate. When ready to serve, scoop out desired amounts.

I’ve also made this bowl cake recipe with chocolate cake and chocolate pudding. Yummy!

Stay cool and enjoy summer!
