Fruit-filled Jars

March 8, 2021

Once a week, I make an afternoon snack for all the grandchildren. Usually, it’s something not too healthy. I decided to fill Mason Jars with fruit. It’s a bit time consuming but nutritional.

I used cardstock scraps and decorated the tops of the jars.

 I then added ribbon.

Of course, the snacks need to be refrigerator and eaten soon. These were chowed down within hours. Below is a picture of jars I filled with cake, pudding, and cool whip, probably their favorite snack. I may fill the jars with carrots, celery, broccoli, and other vegetables for an upcoming treat day. Maybe you have an idea.

Enjoy!

Spring Planting

February 20, 2021

Where I live, we are covered in snow.

It’s a great time to think about spring planting and new additions to flower beds. I thought I would share some perennial pictures from my yard. Many plants attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

Clematis

To beat the blues, why not plan a new flower garden or think about a hydrangea to fill an empty spot in your yard?

Hydrangea

It’s fun to get children involved in spring planting. They will love to see their project grow and bloom into a beautiful flowering plant.

I’m anxious to see my tulips peek above the ground. I planted several new varieties last fall.

Think Spring!

Easy Valentine’s Day Vases

January 25, 2021

Frosting, disinfecting wipes, and other containers can be repurposed to make vases. Children will have fun creating their own designs.

Supplies needed:

  • Empty containers, washed and dried
  • Glue sticks
  • Cardstock paper
  • Ribbon
  • Variety of fresh flowers

Children may want to design their own wrap with crayons or stickers. My cardstock paper did not completely cover the large container, so I added a strip of scrap paper to the front.

As you can see, I made these specifically for Valentine’s Day. I think I’d like to do the same for Mother’s Day.

Have fun creating.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Outdated Christmas Ornaments

January 18, 2021

Just a few more weeks left for after-Christmas shopping. I’m a big sale shopper, and finding a deal makes me smile.

Last week, I found dated Christmas ornaments at 90% off. I took a closer look and realized the date could be removed, and I would be able to gift them for Christmas 2021.

If you’re out and about and find dated ornaments, check to see if the date can be removed.

Have fun!
