My friend, Julie, has the best craft gift ideas. She created Nail Day Trays from items purchased at the Dollar Tree–my favorite stop.

These would make a wonderful outdoor summer project for children. No indoor mess. Kids may have their own idea of fun items to include. For those who start Christmas projects early, hum?

Julie purchased all the items from the Dollar Tree except for the netting.

 I’m sharing a post for Mother’s Day that I wrote in 2018.

Ma passed away several years ago at the age of eighty-seven. I never called her mom, mother, mommy–just plain old Ma.

She lived her life with a glass half-full, didn’t complain about not having the luxuries of others, and worked until she was seventy-one. She could plant a seedling and it would shoot to the sky like the Jolly Green Giant. Her instincts for colors and decorating would have put her at the top of an interior design class.

She never had to throw out a meal (like me) because she turned everything into a chef’s delight. Nothing went to waste–ever. Her cakes and desserts were moist to the taste, and a pot of Maxwell House Coffee sat hot waiting for the next visitor.

Ma taught us children about loving God, sharing, putting the needs of others first, and how to penny pinch. Being frugal was a lifestyle, wastefulness a no-no, and living by principles the only way to survive.

She called most every night before her bedtime to make sure the family was safe. This went on until she passed away.

Ma would stop by with flower shoots, decorating tips, and usually something we needed.

One year, she gave me some buttercup flowers to plant. For those who don’t know, they spread like wildfires. But I dare anyone to remove a buttercup from my yard.

This Mother’s Day, I looked upward to thank Ma for instilling the right stuff into our lives. And, maybe, we can view the world through her eyes.

Her children rise up and call her blessed.

Last February, I made Valentine’s Day vases from repurposed containers. I received many comments about them and decided to create some for Mother’s Day.

    Items needed:

Frosting, disinfecting wipes, or other containers. Remove outer covering, wash and dry.

    Cardstock paper, ribbon, glue sticks, fresh flowers.

   

  Optional: Butterflies, birds, or stickers of choice.

Children will have fun creating these easy vases. I’ve included a few samples for this post. When I finished filling them with flowers, I delivered several to my neighbors. It’s an inexpensive vase to make and would be a wonderful way to bless your special someone this Mother’s Day.

I like easy crafts for children. Below I’ve listed supplies needed and directions to make these fun creations. They are inexpensive to create, and all of them can be tweaked. Have fun!

Egg Carton Crosses

• egg carton
• ribbon
• flowers

You can add a heart on top, paint cardboard egg cartons, or use an already tinted Styrofoam carton.

Paper Plate Sheep

• white paper plates
• gray construction paper
• ribbon,
• googly eyes
• Sharpie
• glue
• cotton balls

I trimmed my paper plate first. To make the legs, just fold a strip of construction paper accordion style.

Button Easter Eggs

• construction or cardstock paper
• glue
• buttons
• ribbon
• paper punch

I used an Easter box to trace a sample.

Chick Easter Egg Holder

• construction paper
• toilet paper roll
• glue or glue sticks
• feathers,
• googly eyes
• plastic Easter eggs
• jelly beans
